Write On!

I received my very first ever order from Goulet Pens (www.gouletpens.com) over the weekend, and I was beyond excited! I decided to share, so here's an unboxing/haul video. I also talk about how I got interested in fountain pens, and why I love them. I hope you enjoy!

Sketching the Days Away

This year, I've been working on a 365 sketch project. Some days I have more time to devote, so the sketches are a bit more detailed, and others I only have a few minutes so it's just a doodle. I go back and forth on this project. When I have the time, I really enjoy it! But when I don;t, I feel very pressured to get something down, and that makes it stressful.

I think if I didn't already keep my daily journal with drawings and writings about my days, this would be more fun overall. On top of that, though, this sometimes seems like just another thing I have to do. Which is silly, of course, because I don't HAVE to do anything. But you know what I mean. :)

Anyway, I thought I'd share a couple of my recent pages with you. I mentioned to my husband that I might do this late last year, so for Christmas he bought me a little red sketchbook specifically designed to hold 365 little sketches. It has the days numbered and everything.

Enjoy!

All About My Journals!

Hi all! I decided to do the "All About My Journals" tag that's been going around on YouTube. The tag was started by the lovely journaltree - please watch her video here. This was kind of fun and interesting, and hopefully I don't look like too much of a dork. :) I've added the questions down below as well.

Questions:
1. How many journals do you own?
2. When did you start keeping a journal?
3. How do you date your entries?
4. How many different types of journals do you currently use?
5. Do you have a favorite journal brand?
6. Do you ever write outside or take your journal with you?
7. Do you keep an online journal?
8. How often do you journal?
9. Do you record your dreams? And if so, how?
10.Do you prefer to write on lined pages?
11. Do you ever censor yourself?
12. Do you ever name your journals?
13. If you have a reason, explain why you started journaling.
14. If you've been writing a long time, how has your style changed?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Journal #13 Flip Through

As promised, here's a flip through of my recently completed 13th journal. It's sort of like the Hobonichi style that's all the rage right now, but my own version. I've been keeping these books for several years now, and I really enjoy it.

I got a new video camera, plus I'm relatively new to recording videos, so please forgive the weird angle and crappy lighting. I wish I'd zoomed in a bit more too, because it's tough to see the details. I'll get better, I promise! Thanks for watching, and please subscribe if you're interested in seeing more. Have a great weekend!

Lucky #13

I finished the 13th volume of my daily journal last night! This book is a Canson Mixed Media spiral bound book measuring about 7x10 inches. I really enjoyed it - the paper was thick and had a nice tooth. It took water soluble media reasonably well, and colored pencil, ink and marker were perfect. I've been working on this book since late February, so it lasted me a good long time.

I'm planning to record a flip video very soon (my camera is charging now!), so keep an eye out!

Sketchbook & Art Journal Tour

Here's a pretty short video to show you all of the different sketchbooks and art journals that I use on a regular basis. Some are more writing journals and others are more sketching and drawing, and some are in between. I'd be happy to go into more detail about any of them, just let me know what you;re interested in seeing in a comment. I can also go into more detail about the different media & supplies that I use as well.

I hope that you enjoy watching! Thanks for stopping by!

Journaling by 5s - Part 3

This one was really really tough for me! Stamps and stencils are not something I use at all. I've also seen them as a waste of money because I prefer to draw or paint the images I want. With the 15 minute time constraint, plus my lack of experience, this was a tough round for me! Stamping and stenciling always seemed pretty self-explanatory, but clearly it takes a little finesse. Even though this didn't turn out the way I hoped, I'm still loving this process and I'm excited to continue. I'm learning so much!
